Updating Helm Values

Apply changed FOSSA Helm chart values to a running on-premises installation with helm upgrade.

Overview

After your initial installation, you'll sometimes need to change the Helm values FOSSA is running with, for example, to configure an integration or adjust a setting. Applying new values is a straightforward helm upgrade.

  1. 1

    Confirm Helm is set up

    Make sure helm is configured to talk to your cluster. See Set up Helm if you need to reconnect or re-add the FOSSA chart repository.

  2. 2

    Prepare your new values

    Edit your values file with the changes you want to apply.

  3. 3

    Find your release name

    You'll need the Helm release name of the FOSSA instance you're upgrading, the name you chose in Install and verify FOSSA. If you don't remember it, run helm list to see every release in your cluster.

  4. 4

    Run the upgrade

    Shell
    $ helm upgrade --namespace NAMESPACE RELEASE_NAME fossa/fossa-core --values YOUR_VALUES_FILE.yaml --timeout 60m

    This creates a new version of your release using the updated values.

Note

The upgrade may take some time to finish. Some upgrades cause FOSSA to become briefly unavailable as services restart.
