G Suite
Set up Google Workspace (G Suite) single sign-on so users on your domain can sign in to FOSSA with Google.
Overview
G Suite (Google Workspace) acts as a single sign-on provider for FOSSA. Once you claim your Google Workspace domain, anyone with a Google account on that domain can sign in to FOSSA with Google, and first-time users are added to your organization automatically, with no invite required.
Note
Single sign-on is a premium feature, contact your FOSSA account team to enable it. You also need an organization admin account with permission to edit authentication settings, and a Google account on the Workspace domain you want to claim.
Warning
Self-hosted deployments need extra configuration before Google Workspace SSO will work. Contact support@fossa.com for details.
Claiming your Google Workspace domain
- 1
Open your authentication settings
Go to Settings → Organization → Authentication.
- 2
Choose an authentication method
Under Authentication Method, pick how your users sign in:
- SSO + Email Address: users can join and sign in through Google Workspace SSO, and invited users can still sign in with a password or another social login.
- SSO Only: every user must authenticate through SSO. Password login is disabled and no invites are required.
- 3
Select Google Workspace as the SSO method
Under SSO Configuration, open the SSO Method dropdown and choose Google Workspace (G Suite).
- 4
Claim your domain
Under Redirect Email Domains, click Claim New Domain.
Warning
The Claim New Domain button stays disabled until you save your authentication settings. Save your changes first, then claim the domain.
- 5
Sign in with Google
In the dialog, follow the prompts and click Sign in with Google. Sign in with a Google account whose email is on the domain you want to claim, for example,
you@your-company.com, not a personal@gmail.comaddress. - 6
Confirm the connection
Google redirects you back to FOSSA. The claimed domain now appears under Redirect Email Domains, confirming the connection succeeded.
Warning
You can only claim a Google Workspace (hosted) domain, personal gmail.com and googlemail.com addresses are rejected. A domain can also be claimed by only one organization, and can't be claimed if it's already in use with another SSO method.
Result
Users whose email is on the claimed domain can now click Sign in with Google on the FOSSA login page. Anyone signing in for the first time is added to your organization automatically, no invite needed.
To add users who should keep password login, invite them by email instead. See Inviting Users. Invited users can sign in with both a password and single sign-on.
